Use the full address to plan the right plumbing visit
The incorporated Town of Upper Marlboro has defined municipal boundaries, but an Upper Marlboro mailing address can cover a wider service area. The address alone does not show which utility serves a property or who owns a failed pipe.
Give us the full street address and any water or sewer account information when you call. We also ask whether the building has a meter, well equipment, septic record, or gas service. These details help us prepare. The on-site inspection still confirms the plumbing system and the source of the problem.

Older buildings and newer development need different checks
The Maryland State Archives identifies Upper Marlboro as the Prince George’s County seat and records its 1870 incorporation. The area now includes older properties, renovations, newer subdivisions, rental homes, and business spaces.
Pipe age does not always match the age of the building. A renovated property may contain new fixtures connected to an older branch line. An addition can have a different pipe material from the original house. New construction can still have a loose fitting, damaged valve, or installation fault.
We check the material and condition of the affected section. We also look for weak shutoffs, poor support, incompatible connections, and signs of a past repair. This keeps a local leak from becoming an unsupported recommendation to replace every pipe.
Know the public and private service-line boundary
WSSC Water explains that it maintains the water service from the public main to the property line. The customer is responsible for the service connection from the property line to the building and for plumbing inside the property.
That boundary matters when water appears near a meter, curb, basement wall, or yard. We can inspect the private side and repair accessible customer-owned pipe. A break in the public main or utility-owned section needs WSSC Water or the applicable provider.

This check is also useful before a purchase or renovation. Utility records can prevent a contractor from designing work around a meter, main, well, or sewer connection that the property does not have.
Rental and commercial service starts with access
A leak in a rental home needs clear contact between the occupant, property manager, and person who approves the repair. A business call may need work planned around customers, staff, or a required restroom.
Tell us who can provide access, which fixtures are out of service, and whether water is still spreading. If a tenant or employee already closed a valve, identify it. Do not reopen a valve only to test an active leak.

If water is reaching electrical parts, do not touch the unit while standing in water. Never cap a temperature-and-pressure relief valve. If the relief pipe discharges, turn off the unit only when you can do so safely and call for service.
Treat a suspected gas leak as an emergency
A suspected gas leak is not a routine repair appointment. Leave the building. Do not operate a light switch, telephone, appliance, vehicle, flame, or other possible ignition source near the odor. Call 911 or the gas utility emergency line from a safe location.
After the emergency authority makes the area safe, Hardin Services can inspect and repair approved private gas piping. Our gas-line service follows the applicable permit, testing, and inspection process. Do not use tape, putty, or a temporary clamp on a gas line.

One clear report can shorten the first inspection
When you call, describe what changed, when it started, and which fixtures or rooms are affected. A photo of the equipment label, visible pipe, or utility notice can also help. Do not enter an unsafe crawl space, remove an electrical panel, or open gas equipment to get it.
